2022 face-to-face Geothermal School was held from September 21 to November 26. The students from El Salvador had lectures and practical training at Iwate University, Geothermal Engineering Co., Ltd., and Tohoku University and studied each research theme.  Part of the practical training by FREA (Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST) was held online. Under the severe COVID-19 pandemic, they finished the course safely.
