SATREPS Geothermal Energy Seminar was held in El Salvador
The SATREPS special seminar was held at Hotel Sheraton Presidente, San Salvador on June 8th and 10th. This seminar was arranged by Universidad de El Salvador and LaGeo.
The first day’s seminar title was ” La Enrgía Geotérmica y su Importancia para el Desarrollo de los Pueblos (Geothermal Energy and its Importance for the Development of Towns) “. Over 80 people from University, Companies, including the Acting Ambassador of Japan, Ms. Kayoko Furukawa, and Mr. Masaru Kozono, Representative of the JICA El Salvador office, attended.
The second day’s seminar title was ” Las Ciencias de la Tierra en el Desarrollo de la Energía Geotermica (Earth Sciences in the Development of Geothermal Energy) and over 150 University students and staff attended.
In the seminar, the Research leader, Mr. Noriyoshi Tsuchiya gave lectures on the titles of “Energy Transition: Promising Geothermal Energy and Its Significance” (June 8th), and “Geological Background of Geothermal Energy in El Salvador” (June 10th).

After the presentation, UES awarded Mr. Noriyoshi Tsuchiya and Mr. Hiroyuki Yamagishi (Research Associate of Tohoku University) with commemorative plaques for their great contribution to the research in El Salvador.
